Memory, adaptive orienting and psychosomatics: a brain model

چکیده

The pathogenesis of psychosomatic disorders is discussed within the framework of a brain model centered around memory-driven information processing for the organization of behavior. The key concept is the multidimensional, nonunitary, adaptive orienting response that is elicited by the pre-attentive step of information processing for the allocation of attention and the functional organization of the organs. Psychosomatic symptoms are explained by automated, functional maladaptations that were established by earlier experiences of stress-producing interactions with social realities. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. Adaptive Tunable Vibration Absorber using Shape Memory Alloy

This study presents a new approach to control the nonlinear dynamics of an adaptive absorber using shape memory alloy (SMA) element. Shape memory alloys are classified as smart materials that can remember their original shape after deformation. Stress and temperature-induced phase transformations are two typical behaviors of shape memory alloys. Changing the stiffness associated with phase tran...

Effect of cerebral administration of enalapril on spatial memory in scopolamine-induced amnesia in rats

Numerous studies conducted in laboratory animals and humans indicate that angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors reinforce memory and learning. In this paper we study the effect of injection of enalapril into the cerebral ventricles on spatial memory of white mice in the double- y maze, following the induction of an Alzheimer- like amnestic model with scopolamine. To estimate the duration o...

O14: Autobiographical Memory, Trauma, and the Development of Memory Interventions

Autobiographical memory, that is, our memory for personal life experiences, is integral to our sense of self. However, the experience of trauma can create distortions in how our memories are bought to mind. In particular, trauma can produce an overgeneral memory style, which relates to the development of both PTSD and depression. However, theory states that immediately following a traumatic eve...

Effects of harmalol on scopolamine-induced memory disorders, anxiety and depression like behaviors in male mice: A behavioral and molecular study

Introduction: Harmalol is a dihydrocarboline compound found naturally in several alcoholic beverages and medicinal plants. This study was designed to investigate the effect of harmalol on memory function and its possible mechanisms in a scopolamine-induced memory disorder model. Materials and Methods: Thirty five male mice were randomly divided into five (n=7) group: Control group )normal sali...

Neuroprotective Effect of Gallic Acid on Memory Deficit and Content of BDNF in Brain Entorhinal Cortex of Rat’s Offspring in Uteroplacental Insufficiency Model

Introduction: Uteroplacental insufficiency (UPI) causes neurodevelopmental deficits affecting the intrauterine growth restricted (IUGR) offspring. This study aimed to analyze the effects of Gallic acid (GA) on memory deficit and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) content in entorhinal cortex of UPI rat models. Methods: In this experimental study, 40 pregnant Wistar rats were randomly div...
